Attorney Profile

About

Jonah is a partner with Saad & Saad and counsels clients in real estate, public finance, and general corporate transactions. Jonah has extensive experience in various real estate matters, including acquisitions, leasing, and title and survey review. He is also comfortable facilitating the financing and corporate governance matters that accompany these transactions, such as entity formation, and loan negotiation. He concentrates in affordable housing, having represented syndicators, investors, private developers, non-profits, and housing authorities in subsidized and tax-credit-financed transactions nationwide, and in all parts of the deal, from initial structuring and negotiation to post-compliance-period wind-up and disposition.

In the public finance arena, Jonah’s experience includes drafting and negotiating cooperative agreements between municipalities and developers to procure tax incentives and foster economic growth. He has served as bond counsel and underwriter counsel in numerous tax-exempt debt issuances, preparing trust indentures, official statements and other transaction documents in connection with offerings by cities, counties, school districts, new community authorities and port authorities.

Jonah received undergraduate degrees in mathematics, finance, and Spanish language and literature from the University of Notre Dame in 2005.  He received his juris doctorate degree from Yale Law School in 2010.  Jonah is a member of the American Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association and is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.  He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Prior to entering private practice, Jonah worked in various arms of the federal government, including internships with the Department of Justice and the U.S. Treasury, and a clerkship with the Honorable Deborah L. Cook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Before becoming an attorney, he worked as a bond analyst for a major mutual fund and has passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.

Jonah and his wife Thea live in the Short North.  They spend their free time playing golf, taming their two wily dogs, traveling, and managing a small portfolio of rental properties.
